ignorant (En.) อิ๊กโนรึ่นท adj.
เขลา, ไม่รู้ : He's not stupid, merely ignorant.= เขาไม่โง่เง่าเพียงแต่เขาไม่รู้เท่านั้น ; It's an ignorant reply.= เป็นคำตอบที่ไม่ได้เรื่องราวอะไรเลย
:เหมือน=unconcerned, unknown, uninstructed, unlearned, unlettered:ตรงข้าม=conscious, educated, informed, learned, skilled, wise
สังเกต คำนี้มี preposition เฉพาะ: ignorant of=เขลา, ไม่รู้ตัว, ไม่รู้เลยหรือรู้เพียงเล็กน้อย
คล้าย foolish, idiotic, dull, silly, stupid แต่ ignorant=โง่ เพราะไม่ได้เสาะหาความรู้ หรือขาดความรู้ในเรื่องนั้น จึงพูดหรือตอบอะไรไปไม่ได้ : He is very ignorant He does not even know who the Prime Minister of Thailand is.= เขาเป็นคนโง่มาก ไม่รู้แม้กระทั่งว่าใครเป็นนายกรัฐมนตรี ของประเทศไทย ; She is an ignorant woman.= หล่อนเป็นผู้หญิงที่โง่เขลา
illegible (En.) อิลเล้ดเจ็อเบิล adj.
อ่านไม่ออก : His handwriting was illegible.= ลายมือของเขาอ่านไม่ออก ; He wrote the address illegibly.= เขาเขียนที่อยู่อย่างอ่านไม่ออก
:เหมือน=crabbed, cramped, indecipherable, obscure, scribbled, unclear, unintelligible, unreadable:ตรงข้าม=clear, intelligible, legible, plain, readable
อย่าสับสนกับ eligible (เหมาะสม, มีสิทธิ์, มีคุณสมบัติ)
